Joy and jubilation was felt in a better part of yesterday afternoon and everning as President Uhuru Kenyatta’s eldest son, Jomo Kenyatta inched closer in to getting a wife during his kikuyu traditional ceremony known as Itara at their Icaweri home ,Gatundu south Kiambu county .
Itara is a Kikuyu traditional ceremony that is carried out to introduce the girl to the home and the family where she is going to get married.
During the itara, the girl is introduced to the family and her in-laws as get assured that she gets assured that she has got married in the right place.
It is a ceremony that is used to make the bride to be to be assured that the home she is getting married to is the right one where she will not lack food, shelter and clothing.
The ceremony is mostly regarded as a women affair event since it is mostly conducted and led by women.
Jomo has chosen Fiona Achola Ngobi, a tall, brainy granddaughter of the late Luo political giant, Dr William Odongo Omamo.
Meanwhile Ugandans are claiming that Achola Ngobi is there daughter.
One Ugandan wrote on social media, “Ms. Acholla Fiona Ngobi is the daughter of Ms. Ruth Theddesia Ngobi sister to Defense Minister Raychelle Omamo. Her father is Mr. Ngobi, a Ugandan lawyer who served in Rwakasisi’s NASA and fled to Kenya after the 1985 coup.”
“Fyi, Mr. Ngobi is not directly related to former minister Mathias Ngobi, but comes from Busoga. So Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta’s son, Jomo is marrying a Ugandan from the Busoga ethnic group, albeit born in Kenya. I wanted to correct the record: The proper narrative should be that Jomo Kenyatta Jr is engaged to a Kenyan of Ugandan descent.”
