Moi University is the best higher learning institution in Kenya according to latest Webometrics Ranking of World Universities.
The University of Cape Town topped the list in Africa. Egerton University was ranked 2nd in Kenyan and 23rd in Africa.
Kenyatta University was ranked at position 51 in the……African continent and third in Kenya.
JKUAT and Maseno came in fourth and fifth position in Kenya and but at position 67 and 112 in the continent. Surprisingly, The University of Nairobi, arguably the best institution in Kenya did not feature.
“We are pleased with the latest ranking which indicates that our team is progressing well to make Moi University a world-class learning institution”, the university’s Public Relations Officer, Nyongesa Wandera, noted.
This comes amid a row over the Vice Chancellor’s position at the university.
Professor Laban Ayiro is the acting Vice-Chancellor of Moi University but lacks the support of local leaders who are rooting for Professor Isaac Kosgey.
