Thursday 14th July 2016, morning at 5.30 am at Kapenguria police station, West Pokot County, an individual detained over terror links grabs a firearm from a report Office Officer.
Using the firearm the terrorist identified as Omar Okwaki Kills 5 police officers (1 OCS, and four police constables).
Police report that Okwaki had planned his escape from the cells and that he was a well trained in handling firearms.
His attempts to escape were thwarted by quick response of other officers including GSU-RECCE Squad that shot him dead.
The attacks comes barely 24-hours after Al-Shabaab chief Sheikh Ahmad Abu Ubeidah in an audio called on fighters to fight and free themselves.
Al-Shabaab is also facing a stiff competition with a section of its fighters shifting allegiance to the ISIS faction in Somalia.
