President Uhuru Kenyatta has jetted out of the country into Somalia for a special meeting with several other Heads of States days after the country banned miraa from Kenya.
Uhuru will be attending the 28th IGAD Extra-Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government which will be attended by other heads of states from Uganda, and Ethiopia.
Although the president held bilateral talks with his Somalia counterpart when he arrived at the country on Tuesday, September 13, it was not revealed if the two discussed the miraa ban issue.
The ban was occasioned after Meru Governor Peter Munya reportedly told the breakaway Somaliland that it would be supported by Kenya in its endeavour to seek autonomy from the larger Somalia.
Somalia has remained the biggest market for Kenyan miraa after Britain and Netherlands banned the sale of the crop in their territories.
