Kenya Revenue Authority KRA has impounded a container carrying two luxurious Range rovers worth over Ksh 30m and attracting tax value of Ksh 16m at the port of Mombasa.
The two cars belonging to Mr Andrew Kagambo had been hidden in a 40 feet container that was imported from United Kingdom and destined to Uganda.
The container arrived in the country on 5th of September 2016.
According to Kenya revenue KRA coast regional commissioner Nicholas Kinoti the two had not been declared in the cargo manifest and it was a scheme to evade taxes from the government.
The container was also loaded with two other unit of vehicles Peugeot and Toyota corolla which had been covered with mattresses.
On the other hand he , said the container had been declared to contain 600 bicycles ,200 bales of clothes and ten tables of six engines .
He said that Kra is currently working with Interpol and other agencies to establish those behind the syndicate.
