Kiambu Parliamentary aspirant and Lecturer at Mt Kenya University Solomon Ndung’u beat and seriously injured a heavily pregnant young woman Rhoda Nyawira who is now nursing serious injuries reportedly for refusing to do an abortion. The immediate TNA Secretary General (Kiambu County) accosted Ms Nyawira at night but was rescued by neighbors after she screamed raising an alarm; this been the 3rd time he was beating her in a month.
Finally the long arm of law has caught up with MKU Lecturer Mr Solomon Ndung’u who was charged on 12th Aug 2016 charged under Section 251 of the Penal Code which states that, “Any person who commits an assault occasioning actual bodily harm is guilty of a misdemeanor and is liable to imprisonment for five years.”
Solomon was however released on a Ksh 20,000 bond after denying the charge. Hearing is on 26 January 2017 and a mention is slated on 28th of this month before Principal Magistrate Stella Atambo. Meanwhile, Ms Rhoda Kariuki is recovering at Nairobi Womens hospital.
