Landlord Locks School Girls Inside House for 1 Month

A rare spectacle was Tuesday witnessed in Shabab estate, Nakuru County when residents alerted the police after discovering that a landlord in the area had locked up two girls inside a house for a whole month.

The girls, a University and Form Two student, had been held captive inside the house for the last one month by the house owner and agents following a Sh40,000 debt.

Upon arrival at the scene, police officers broke into the house and rescued the girls who were greatly traumatised.

The 22-year-old university student narrated that they woke up on the morning of October 29 only to find that the door had been locked from outside by agents.

She added that her mother, who was not locked up with them, used to feed them through a small opening in the window throughout the whole period.

“Mum would bring us food through the window every day, she used to sleep at her friend’s house,” the 22-year-old university student said.

Confirming the incident, OCPD Nakuru subdivision Joshua Omukala noted that the police were pursuing the said landlord.
