Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is in the US for a conference discussing violent extremism. Joho has been accused of drug trafficking by sections of the government

Joho who flew out on the evening of Tuesday, February 17, is attending a United Nations Strong Cities summit that seeks to find solutions to the rising violent extremism in the coast region.

Mombasa county head of communications Richard Chacha confirmed the trip.

“Our delegation is going to support the governor’s role in Strong Cities Network (SCN). His role is key in shaping the balance of power and its impact on cities which are facing conflict based on extreme ideologies, which is shifting in light of the new US administration,”

Chacha said as quoted by Standard.

Now photos have emerged of the controversial governor having some quality time in Washington DC.
