KCB Bank Apologies To Personality Julie Gichuru For A Joke Gone Wrong

Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) has been posting a series of tweets to advertise one of their financial services but one of the posts on their timeline didn’t go well with many people, including the former Citizen TV news anchor.

The photo the bank posted in the tweet is from ‘Beasts Of No Nation’, a film about the story of how African children were forced to perform extreme acts of violence or they would be killed.

But KCB, which is one of Kenya’s biggest financial institutions, seemed to make a joke at the lead actor Agu, played by one Abraham Atta, from a scene which showed poor understanding of English.

The Tweet seemed so wrong to Julie and she asked the lender not to ridicule child soldiers but instead join other people of good will to ensure peace and stability in Africa.

KCB apologized on the same platform saying it was an oversight. They went on to add that they will take proper care to ensure such mistakes don’t crop up in the future.
