While EDUCATION CS Fred Matiangi says 10 students admitted to hospital after Moi Girls School Nairobi dorm fire, State to settle bills for victims.

we offer our heartfelt condolences to families and friends of the Moi Girls School fire victims. We pray for a speedy recovery to those hospitalized.

Parents were at the Moi Girls School in Nairobi after parents were barred from accessing the scene where eight students perished after a dormitory was razed by fire.

Furious parents tried to force their way into the dormitory but were barred by armed police officers.

Japheth Koome, Nairobi County police Commander, had a rough time trying to calm down the angry parents.

“Give us the bodies! We have already accepted!!” demanded the inconsolable parents.

However, Koome implored parents to give the authorities time because some of those who died were burnt beyond recognition and needed experts
to take DNA tests to identify them.

Education Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i, who was present, said the school will be closed for two weeks to allow students recover from shock and launch investigations over the cause of the fire.

This is among worst fire tragedies in school after Kyanguli Secondary where 68 died and Bombolulu Girls where 25 died.
