Wallace Kantai Lands Top Job at Central Bank

Former NTV business news anchor and editor Wallace Kantai has landed a lucrative job after he moved out from the Nation Media Group (NMG).

Mr. Kantai has been appointed as the head of communication at the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).

“CBK welcomes Wallace to the Bank fraternity and looks forward to leveraging o his wide experience in the communications and related fields, in our efforts to ensure an open and vibrant exchange with members of the media and the public at large,” CBK said in a statement.
The well-versed business reported exited NMG early this year under unclear circumstances. He joined NTV as Business Editor in 2010.

However, unconfirmed reports indicated that he handed his resignation notice after NTV’s business desks were put under the Business Daily, led by managing editor Ochieng Rapuro.

It is said that conflict between editors forced Kantai out.

“It was an issue of who calls the shots,” said a journalist form the NMG business desk. “Kantai never accepted the fact that he should work under Business Daily. There were also other administrative issues in play,” Business Today quoted.
