Kenya tourism sector yesterday evening received a major boost, after small planet charter airline introduced a direct flight from Warsaw in Poland to our coastal city of Mombasa.

Tourism Cs Najib Balala said that the arrival of more 186 tourists from Poland is an indication of the revival of the tourism sector in the country.

Addressing journalists at Moi international airport in Mombasa county Balala said the number of charter lines is expecting to increase this year.

Balala who was accomapnied by KTB officials said that this was a result of the government incentive to over Ksh1.2 b to the charter lines to help increase the number of tourists coming to Mombasa and other parts of the region.

This comes as Mombasa County government embarked on program to repaint all buildings in the coastal city in a bid to improve or boost tourism industry.

County secretary Francis Thoya says all building will have to be repainted as part of the beautification and attraction of tourists.

Thoya says most of the building in the county are decaying and needs to be repainted, and renovated to improve the image of the town.

Thoya says they are planning to meet all business stakeholders next week before a gazette notice is published to have the city buildings repainted.

A section of tourists shop operators along the Indian Ocean and old town in Mombasa County supported the idea ,but challenged local leaders and security agencies to ensure security is restored in the area in a bid to attract more tourists.
