Man conned thousands by fake Mike Sonko

A man purporting to be Mike Sonko is being sought by Embu police after conning a man a whooping Ksh 5,000.

Enos Njeru, a bursar at Kangaru Girls High School, said a man claiming to be Nairobi senator Mike Sonko conned him of Ksh 5,600 with an aim to help him invest in a motorcycle.

Njeru is said to have sent the money to Michael Kioko as processing fee for a logbook of a motorcycle he was to get from the alleged man.

Njeru could not immediately discover that the man was only a crook after his money but only realized the man could be a con after he demanded an extra Ksh 7,850 to process the insurance fee for the motorcycle before it could be sent to him.

Njeru said he trusted the deal was true since he had seen Nairobi Senator hand out motorcycles, but after calling the man, Michael Kioko (0727667964), the money had already been withdrawn.

Embu West police boss Francis Sang’ confirmed that they had received the complaint and were carrying out investigations.
