Majority leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale on Friday evening moved to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters hours after the government announced that it would take action regarding an inciting audio clip circulating on social media.

Duale took to Twitter to divulge details of the deliberations stating that he had made a formal complaint regarding the recording which he said was fake and pure propaganda. “Am at the CID HQs to make a formal complaint about the fake audio propaganda clip going round on social media,” he posted on Twitter.

During the same meeting, the Garissa Town MP urged the police to investigate the origin of the recording which depicts Duale as having reportedly incited youth in his constituency to violence against members of the Kamba community.

“The relevant authorities should investigate and get into the bottom of the matter in regard to who recorded the fake clip & the venue,” he added.

The move came hours after former deputy speaker Farah Maalim moved to the same headquarters asking the authorities to carry out investigations on the inciteful remarks, highlighting that it could spark violence in the country.
