Jonathan Mukundi is suspected to have shot his wife, Philomena Njeri, over suspected infidelity Njeri is said to have returned to their matrimonial home while pregnant, months after leaving.

The couple is said to have been together for about 10 years but were yet to be blessed with children.

Police are investigating the incident where a man shot dead his wife before turning the same gun on himself at their home in Kiambu county.

Jonathan Mukundi Gachunga is suspected to have shot his wife, Philomena Njeri after he was told she had conceived from another man he had suspected was her boyfriend. A close friend of the deceased, who sought anonymity, hinted to UDAKU KE that the woman had deserted her matrimonial home for more than five months.

According to the police, the 42-year-old man, a licenced gun holder, shot his 30-year-old wife in the head before taking his own life using the same weapon. The victim’s lifeless bodies were on Tuesday, August 3, found in their bedroom, which had been locked from inside.

Mukundi’s friend raised the alarm after being unreachable on his phone and reported the matter to the police. Kiambu police station officers proceeded to his house, where they discovered their bodies lying in a pool of blood. The officers recovered a mini Glock gun from the scene.
