NASA coalition has accused the Jubilee party of setting the date for fresh polls. The IEBC on Monday proposed that the elections be held on the 17 October 2017.

Speaking at the Wilson Airport, Raila Odinga has said that the electoral body was taking orders from the Government. He said that the body followed CS Education Fred Matiang’i’s directive.

Matiang’i had asked the commission to hold the polls a week before the 17 October saying a later date would disrupt the 2017/18 education calendar.

Sharing his sentiments was Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula who said that ‘you do not need the algorithm formulae to tell who is running the show.’

The coalition has proposed that the election be held on either 24 or 31 November 2017.

Odinga noted that pushing the exams by two weeks would not harm the students saying ‘they are going for holidays.’

They also maintained that the fresh elections should not be between him and President Uhuru Kenyatta as it was not a ‘run off.’

Also present was Kalonzo Musyoka who said making reference to the 2013 Supreme Court ruling was wrong as the ruling was irrelevant.

The NASA camp has said that it is ready for the polls but needs to hold meetings with the body.

They have also emphasized on the fact that they certain commissioners need to be sent home and others prosecuted before the elections are held.
